What are dental implants?
Plenty of tooth replacements sit on top of the gums or lean on the teeth next to the gap. An implant works differently. It fuses with the alveolar jawbone (that process is called osseointegration), so the whole tooth gets rebuilt from the root up.
An implant restoration has three parts.
The titanium post (root)
A medical-grade titanium screw placed in the jawbone. Over time, bone cells bind straight to the titanium and form a permanent foundation that stops the jawbone from shrinking (resorption).
